Persia

This painting was inspired by a 16th century Persian tile and is part of a series called “Migration.”

Birthed from feelings of frustration during Trump’s presidency when he began banning countries, this concept revolves around what I think makes America beautiful – the presence and blending of different cultures. In essence, the body of work for this series involves creating ecosystems that embraces various cultures…and how the energy and matter that moves through these ecosystems, are what makes them thrive.

In 2017 I came across a quote by Olivia Wilde that struck a cord. She eloquently put into words, what I could not. It really defined the huge shift I experienced as an artist that year.

Telling stories that show there is hope, that as individuals we can be choose to be there for each other, that there is a sense of purpose that can come out of this rage, is important. I believe in optimism, in being proactive, and not just letting ourselves fester in misery.
